Children & Youth Music and Theater Ministry Director

David Corkill
David grew up in LaGrange, Texas, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange for the first 18 years of his life.  While there, he was a leader for the youth at the church, a committed member of Young Life, and became the adult Chancel Choir Director at age 15, a position he held for his last three years of high school.  David attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas and graduated with degrees in Education and Music.  After graduating Baylor in 2011, he got a job as a Social Studies and Music teacher at Rapoport Academy in Waco, Texas where he taught for four years before accepting his current job as the Performing Arts Director at Annapolis Christian Academy in Corpus Christi, where he teaches Choir, Band, Music, and Theater classes to 2nd-12th grades.  On top of his many duties at work, David is a member of both the Choir and Bell Choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Corpus Christi, a percussionist in the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony, and an actor at both the Harbor Playhouse and Aurora Arts Theater in Corpus Christi.
David became First Presbyterian Church of Corpus Christi’s Youth Director in November 2016, where he remained until becoming the Children and Youth Music and Theater Ministry Director in 2018.  Through the use of music, reading and acting, the all new all youth fellowship time from 9:45 – 10:00 a.m. on Sundays will usher in a new era of youth participation and excitement at First Presbyterian Church.  David will seek to teach God’s word to the children and youth of the church through song, dance, public readings, chants, plays, skits, and more.  The children and youth will have several presentations for the church throughout the year, including major presentations on Palm Sunday and Christmas Eve.
