Pastoral Resident, Moses Camacho, brings a word from Exodus 32 and 24 in reference to Israel’s greatest sin, The Golden Calf. Right on the heel of the inauguration of God’s covenant with Israel, they turn around and reject the Lord and his covenant by making the calf. The question we tackle is God’s punishment on them and how we should understand his anger and justice. But the Old Testament constantly looks back on this moment and recalls God’s grace and ultimate forgiveness even though Israel’s sin of idolatry will haunt them. What does this passage and event mean for the church today?
First Scripture Reading: Exodus 32:1-14, 30-35 Second Scripture Reading: Exodus 34:1-10 This sermon was live-streamed/recorded at First Presbyterian Church of Corpus Christi on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
