Assistant Shepherds
Presbyterian churches are governed by elders elected from the congregation. We didn't make this up, it's what we find in the Bible. In 1 Peter 5, elders are instructed to "shepherd the flock of God until the Chief Shepherd, Jesus, comes." The office of elder is not really a position of honor but a position of service. Elders are assistant shepherds.

    Running the Race
In several places the Bible compares living the Christian faith to running a race. The race of faith is not a sprint but a marathon. It's impossible to run a marathon simply by trying hard. Running a marathon requires training. Are you training for the path God has laid out for you?
