Core Values and Beliefs

Knowing Christ

Jesus said, “whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:8). The only way to know God is to know Jesus who reveals God to us because He is God. Therefore we believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. (Acts 4:12)

Colossians 1:15-20; John 14:6-7; Hebrews 1:3; John 10:25-30; Matthew 11:27

Making Christ Known

In the Great Commission, Jesus said, “Go, therefore, and make disciples.” We believe the primary mission of the Church and the calling of all Christians is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing the good news with “all who are far off.” (Acts 2:39)

Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 11

Scripture

“All Scripture is breathed out by God.” (2 Timothy 3:16) We believe the Bible is not merely a collection of books that tell the story of ancient people’s experience of God but that the Bible is the infallible written Word of God, the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus, which teaches all aspects necessary for faith and life; therefore, we value biblical preaching, teaching, and learning.

Proverbs 30:5-6; 2 Timothy 3:15-16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20

Worship

People are made to worship. The main purpose (chief end) of human life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever; therefore, we believe that people thrive best when public worship is a regular part of their life.

Exodus 20:1-11; Psalm 29:2; Psalm 96; Isaiah 66:23; Hebrews 12:28

Relationships

God made us for relationships. The Bible describes God as being in perfect, eternal relationship of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and humans are created in the image of God. We believe that being a follower of Jesus means being in a mutual, loving, praying community centered on Christ with a common mission of knowing Christ and making Christ known.

Genesis 2:18; Matthew 18:20; Mark 12:31; Acts 2:42-47; Romans 12:18

Generosity

We believe that we honor God by offering ourselves fully to Him. We recognize that everything we have – our money, time, and abilities – is a gift from God, entrusted to us to use generously for His glory. By giving and serving generously, we are “storing up treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:20)

Proverbs 19:17; Exodus 35:4-10; 2 Corinthians 9:9-13; 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Life

We believe all lives matter. All people are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27); therefore, all people are valuable. The Church has a responsibility to protect those who are most vulnerable in society, especially the unborn and those nearing the end of life, and to help meet the needs of those marginalized in society.

Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 30:19; Psalm 22:9-10; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 25:35-40; Luke 4:18; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:24; James 1:27.
